Summer Breaks in London are more popular than ever this year. Everyone seems to want to be in the city and make the most of this glorious summer weather. London is buzzing again, proving that it wasn’t just the Olympics Effect. London changes so much when we get a bit of summer heat. Smiles and friendly faces are everywhere, lunch time parks and squares are full of workers, and every one is dressed for a day on the beach. London’s still working of course but we’re in holiday mood! This means we even chat to tourists on the train, which led me to an interesting conversation with some visitors from Yorkshire this morning.

Once The Musical at the Phoenix Theatre
This lovely chatty couple had grabbed themselves a last minute summer break in London and arrived here on Saturday lunchtime, by train from Leeds. They saw Once on Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed it.
They thought it was a great show. Well, she thought it was a great show and he said it was “very good and fantastic value”(!). We northerners like to keep an eye on the pennies so that matters to us!
They’d had a lovely meal at the hotel on Saturday and gone to the hotel disco after. Yesterday was spent enjoying a lazy Sunday breakfast with the papers. Then they’d picked up some strawberries, cream, and sun tan lotion and gone to Canary Wharf to watch the free big screen showing of the Wimbledon Final. There are lots of things to do in London on Sundays, as I might have mentioned before! After that it was time for something cold and fizzy in a trendy bar and dinner out.
They were on their way to do some site seeing this morning before catching the train back this afternoon. I think they’d decided on a river trip, which is a gorgeous cool way to see the city on a sunny day.
Summer Breaks in London Still Available
I’ve just checked our Readers Offers site and there are still a few summer breaks in London, (yes, even with tickets for great shows!) available for the end of July and August this year. There are breaks by train, coach and self drive available. I think the train breaks are slightly better as you tend to have an inner London hotel but I know some people find the coach better value and quite enjoy having a hotel away from the heat and the crowds.
